For several years we did competition BBQ. Susie and I were part of the Hawg'n Sauce barbecue team. Also on the team was my sister Gaylyn and John Wilson. We held our own in the competition and learned a lot about smoking meats. We quit competing when we felt that we had accomplished what we set out to do, learn how to smoke and compete with the best barbecue people in Kansas City.
