A good day fishing
The weather is perfect this week. Today is January 25, and we went fishing during the day. Night fishing is popular here. I fished last night until 1:00 AM and got skunked, but today was a different story. We went to Bob Hall Pier on the Gulf side of Padre Island. (I am working on a roll of film, so hopefully, next week I will post some photos of our adventure.)
The fishing here varies with the temperature of the water. Anything above 60 degrees helps the fishing. Well, it broke into the 60's today. We got to the pier about 11:00 AM and fished until 4:00 PM. We caught around 20 whiting, keeping 10. It was 72 degrees with a sea breeze. The cormorants and pelicans were keeping busy fishing just off of the pier.
There were about 50 people fishing at the pier, about half were locals and the rest Winter Texans. Winter Texan is the term preferred by people like us. The locals have other terms. Our favorite of the other terms is Q-Tips. Q-Tips are easily identified by their white hair and white shoes.
As I write this someone just picked up a load of dog poo, with a plastic bag, that Fido deposited in our lot. Susie's scary haircut is maturing into a beauty. It looks like she is wearing a toupee that is about to fall off. I've got to get those photo's developed.
