Sleeping Bear Dunes are north of Manistee. They are hard to see, but in the sandy area on the right side of the image are kids rolling down this dune.
This is the view of the overlook as you climb on the dunes overlooking Lake Michigan. It tested and reaffirmed my dislike of heights.
This is a look at the platform above. It hovers on soft sand. This view is from the area at the top of the climb down to Lake Michigan(below). The people that make the climb are huffing puffing after the climb to the top. I am reminded of the tumble down the hill taken by Dudley Moore in "10". That is not going to happen to me as I take this photo, from my knees.
The top of the dune is over 400 vertical feet above the lake. The climb is around 750 feet at that angle. Every step you take you slide back a half a step.
